Optus held a four-way pitch for the development of the new national roll-out for its store network.
The design simplifed the current store layout and created multifunctionl service counters to open up the floor plan. The design was ‘means’ tested against two real world store locations.
The rounded fixtures extended to the ceiling and tenancy corners, which conceal the back of house area without a visible door.
Product display appeared simple so as to not intimidate some customers, whilst others could search for phones by brand, network capabilites or plan and their avaliable choices would be displayed via a light behind the handset holder illuminating the wall.
The typical service counter and point of sale systems were replaced by a recessed touch screen located in the free-standing tables. Staff could help naviagte and compare products, or customers could be left to explore the optus range by themselves with a staff member only required for the final transaction.
Other innovative products for automated homes were grouped with projections and multiple devices to demonstrate the products capabilities instore.
